Invincible Doing Invincible Stuff. Iconic!

It’s a cold cold night and I’m certain… scratch that

It’s cold and its dawn. Worked on a tight deadline and had a very awful day, of sorts. So after I’ve settled down and gotten into bed I’m thinking maybe a couple Youtube videos then I hit the sack but I wouldn’t have imagined approximately 2 hours after, I would be writing by pure innate compulsion from watching the seventh episode of the currently airing Invincible. Whoow!

If you haven’t heard, which I doubt would be the case, Amazon Prime adapted an original comic entry by The Walking Dead writer and creator, Robert Kirkman. I won’t go at length with every detail but I’ll share something, if anything at all.

For the most part, the first season has been as interesting as anything we’ve seen before. A few plot twist here and there, the “I’m a superhero but at the same time I don’t know who I am” card thrown about some…you know, the normal teen superhero gimmick. But the truth is Invincible, an original comic from the 2000s, suffers the same fate as Mushoku Tensei; They were both adapted too late for their own good. Most of the themes Invincible tackles, like Mushoku, have been extensively abused by the currently oversaturated market. The story still bangs. The stakes are always high.

*Tch* Now enough of the normal stuff. I’ll get straight to the point.

The seventh episode of the scheduled 8 episode first season is an astonishing piece of animation. There! It’s why I’m hitting my keys continuously in the dark with a tilted grin on my face. I just sent a voice note to Mike shouting and cursing. The episode was unexpected. Earlier this week I had complained to Mike about how inconsistent the sixth episode was and how I’d feared my interest might have waned. I found the light again like a saint young man. Obviously it doesn’t boast extreme graphic textures like in Wonder Egg Priority or Naruto level dynamic combat cinematography but the sequences are thorough and every punch, scream, grimace and tongue click achieves exactly as they’ve been created to have. With this episode’s release, a few more strings have connected now. There are interesting sides of characters waiting to be delved into, even bloodier combat to be presented if we’re looking at the comic work.

In all, you’ve got to see Invincible if you haven’t yet. I bet at the seventh episode you too will raise a sakazuki and agree it is just mwuah!

Ps: If it seems like I’m not saying much in particular, pardon me. Haven’t had any sleep in the last 48 hours but I just was too overjoyed to not write something, even if a tad bit incoherent, on Invincible and why you should watch it. Okay maybe a little bit more than a tad bit.
